What materials do you use to create your bespoke paintings?
All of my illustrations are carefully drawn using Faber-Castell pencils, then painted with high quality Schmincke and Winsor and Newton watercolour paints. Once the paint has dried I add shading using Prismacolor and Derwent crayons and I add final details with a mixture of fineliners (0.3 is my favourite size!) For paper, I use various
types (depending on the order!) but I love Hahnemühle and Arches watercolour paper.
What size paintings do you offer?
I can do A6, A5, A4 and A3! I will advise you on the best size for your subject, for example - a house portrait is best suited to A4 or A3, whereas a new baby portrait would be perfect in A6 or A5.
How much are your paintings?
Prices are available upon request, please get in touch for a personalised quotation.
When do I have to pay for my painting and how do I pay?
Payment in full is always taken before I start working on your painting. I unfortunately can't secure your commission slot until payment has been received. Payment can be made via secure bank transfer.
When do I send my photographs?
Please send me a range of photographs when you send your payment. Commission slots will only be secured once full payment, all photos and relevant information has been received.
What kind of photos do you require?
Please provide me with a range of clear, good-quality, full-length photos. I also need to have a clear idea of everyone's heights, clothing, footwear and hair/facial hair. I am more than happy to merge lots of individual photos for you if required to ensure all of your family, friends or pets can be included (I know a lot of people don't have a photo showing their entire family, there's normally someone missing!) If there's a lot of family members to be included, please label all photos so I don't get anyone mixed up!
What happens if I have a specific deadline for my bespoke painting?
Please let me know your deadline preferences for artwork, if you need your painting very soon please get in touch and I'll see what I can do (I can normally squeeze you in!) Painting turnaround time is longer over busy times when I have lots of orders, such as Christmas, Father's Day and Mother's Day) so please order with plenty of time to spare! There are a limited amount of commission slots available each month, I work as a private art tutor and art mentor too so I don't have a lot of time for painting unfortunately.
Do you paint portraits?
My paintings are an illustrative representation based on your photographs, they are not intended to be in a realistic portraiture style. I have always worked in a style inspired by my favourite children's book illustrators, and love incorporating rosy cheeks!
Do your paintings include backgrounds?
I can either leave a plain background, or there's the option to add flowers and greenery (additional charge) or a fully illustrated background (additional charge)
I want something different to your usual work, is that possible?
If you are after something a little different to the example illustrations shown then please get in touch with me to discuss other options. I love hearing your
ideas!
Whats your returns policy?
Exchanges and refunds on custom products are not accepted. These artworks are all bespoke and made to order, also they take a considerably long time to create.
